KEEPSAKE
2007 West Coast Tour: The Maiden Voyage
In
2004 and 2005 Linda Draper played dates in Europe in support of
her previous LP's "Patchwork" and 2005's Planting
Seeds Records' debut "One Two Three Four". With the release of
her long awaited fifth LP "Keepsake" Linda embarked on
her first ever tour. The tour would include east coast dates
from New York, New Jersey, and Massachusetts. From the
start of June she would play dates on the West
Coast with bay area bassist Rob Woodcock on board.
Her
first stop was on Tuesday June 5th at San Francisco's The
Make Out Room. Linda played to a packed house, with selections
including "One Two Three Four",
"Keepsake" and a trio of new songs she performed
throughout the tour: "Among The Sharks And The Royalty",
"Pushing Up The Day", and "Time Will Tell".
The night included great performances from the bay
area's finest: Oakland's That Man Fantastic and Sunnyvale's
pop maestro's The Orange Peels (featuring indie-pop legend
Allen Clapp), who closed out the evening.

Following
Linda's triumphant performance at The Make Out Room, she ventured
around the bay area for a couple of in-studio radio performances
and interviews. Linda Draper and bassist Rob Woodcock
were featured on KDVS Radio 90.3 FM's
"Cool As Folk" show (June 8th) - hosted by
Brian Ang. The duo ran through tracks from the "Keepsake"
LP: the title track, "Cell Phone",
"Shine" and "Among The Sharks..." they
also discussed the recording of the LP and the upcoming tour
dates.
Linda's
next stop was also on June 8th, for a late afternoon in
studio session at the famed Los Altos, CA radio station KFJC
89.7 FM - which also featured an interview with DJ Mitch
LeMay discussing Planting Seeds Records, her Rick Nelson Tribute CD
appearance, the tour and more. The Set List featured: "Keepsake",
"Shine", "Cell Phone", "Super Zero",
"Pushing Up The Day", "Time Will Tell",
"Traces Of", "Needlessly", "Among The
Sharks And The Royalty".
On
Saturday June 9th, Linda headed south for a trio of appearances
in San Diego and Los Angeles. Friday's San Diego show was
at the Javanican Coffee house - known not only for their
amazing Joe, but for previously hosting concerts from Sean
Lennon and Jewel among others. Linda's intimate
set included the debut of her live version of Rick Nelson's
"How Long" ("Easy To Be Free: The Songs
Of Rick Nelson" album Co-Music Supervisor Ian Cooke was
in attendance.)

The
Following night - June 10th, Linda Draper performed to a nice
crowd in Los Angeles - in support of The One AM Radio (Dangerbird
records) the 2nd of 4 shows during their June residency at the
Tangier Club - which also featured performances from
Mia Doi Todd (City Zen) and Rock Dove. A fine
evening of atmospheric acoustic based music: The One AM Radio's
electronic leanings via laptop, Mia Doi Todd's storytelling
interludes and Rock Dove's youthful vibrancy.
Linda Draper's performance brought the energy up another notch
with driving versions of "Time Will Tell", the perfect
"Traces Of" - and an overall inspiring set.
After
a superb performance at the Tangier, Linda made a short
drive out for her June 11th "Live At Five" performance
on Los Angeles' premiere indie station KXLU 88.9 FM, entertaining
the thousands of listeners most likely in rush hour traffic.
Set List: "Super Zero", "Traces Of",
"Keepsake", "Cell Phone", "Full
Moon", "Shine", "Time Will Tell",
"Pushing Up The Day", "Needlessly", "How
Long", "Too Late", "Among The Sharks And The
Royalty"

Olympia,
WA was next up on the "Keepsake" tour. Linda played
at Le Voyeur Cafe on Thursday June
14th. She opened the evening which also included San Francisco's
female fronted Alt-Rock Band The New Up. Several
requests were thrown Draper's way - one in particular - the fan
favorite "The Broken Muzzle" (performed for the first
time in two years), strummed it's way onto the set list - pure
magic. The evening also saw the debut live performance of
Phil Ochs' "The Flower Lady".
On
the final day (Friday June 15th) of her tour another in-studio
was set via Portland, OR's KPSU Radio as part of "The Hour
Long Hour" show hosted by Andrew Stern. Set List:
"Traces Of", "Keepsake", "Pushing
Up The Day", "Time Will Tell", "Cell Phone",
"Full Moon", "Too Late", "Among The Sharks
And Royalty"

The
final west coast show was on Friday night June 15th at the
Mississippi Studios with support from Hush
Records' Shelley Short. Shelley performed with lap
steel player Stephen Dorocke (Handsome Family) for a fine
hour long set featuring music from her latest LP "Captain
Wild Horse Rides The Heart Of Tomorrow". Linda
closed her "Keepsake" tour with "How Long" - the beautiful song that also closes out
her album, which featured guest lap steel playing courtesy of
Stephen Dorocke.
The
Summer 2007 west coast tour has come to an end, but a return to
California and the west is sure to be in the future. Stay
tuned for more live shows in support of "Keepsake".
