Bridge And Tunnel Continues Its Critical Praise
LINDA
DRAPER's sixth studio LP continues to get more critical acclaim...here are the
latest:
"
the music and voice take center stage, simple and direct... Draper is all about
substance...genius..." - ROCK AND REPRISE
"...stands
head and shoulders above what I considered folk these days... BRIDGE
AND TUNNEL is the best record yet..." - DAGGER (June 6, 2009)
And
here's the full review from THE BIG TAKEOVER:
"It
would be easy to fly the folk flag over singer/songwriter LINDA DRAPERs
music. But that would belie her associations with such outsider artists as KRAMER
or stage-mates like REGINA SPEKTOR and KIMYA DAWSON. Her quiet meditations on
life in the 21st century may involve more acoustic guitars than electronic geegaws,
but this aint JOAN BAEZ or even CHRISTINE LAVIN. Drapers songs push
her thoughts and feelings outside arbitrary comfort zones, while she and producer
BRAD ALBETTA add just the right touches of organ or drums to keep things interesting
without distraction. All of which is merely a fancy way of saying that Broken
Eggshell, Pushing Up the Day and the title track are difficult
to resist. Kudos also to the overdubbed a cappella take on the ROLLING STONES
Mothers Little Helper, a choice that says a lot about Drapers
tastes and attitude." - Mike Tolbert

a review of Bridge and Tunnel will be published July 16th at Feminist Review (http://www.feministreview.org/)

Living Room Appearance & Odetta Tribute
Linda
Draper nears the release of "Bridge And Tunnel" (Planting Seeds
Records) - due out Spring (April 2009). She played her first show of the year
to a packed house at NYC's The Living Room (Upstairs) on January 2nd along with
bassist Rob Woodcock. The duo are set to hit the road early summer in support
of the LP - which will include dates on the West Coast.

with UK magazine Wears The Trousers with rumored appearances from Marissa
Nadler, Pepi Ginsberg, Sandy Dillon, Mara Carlyle and a slew of others. Draper
and bassist Rob Woodcock recorded the traditional track "Sail Away Lady"

60's by Odetta - she recently re-recorded the song with the Byrds' Roger McGuinn
on his "Treasures From The Folk Den" LP. The Odetta tribute will
be a benefit to help others with heart and pulmonary diseases - look for a February/March
